about

First up in this DIY Series is our good friend Amber Leith [Danny Igoe].
We have been watching closely over the years as his songwriting style developed from a stripped back acoustic sound, into a flurry of synthesised energy. His most recent venture was a remix for local heroes, 'Man of Moon', which got him a radio play on BBC 6music.

On the title track Amber Leith stays true to his roots, channeling his unique songwriting style through distorted vocals and uplifting synthesis. 'Plenty of Me' is at its core an oddball pop track. Its synth line, taking inspiration from 'Black Light' by 80s Afrobeat outfit 'Basa Basa', is juxtaposed with Danny's pensive lyrics and wistful delivery, creating an eclectic tone that is hard to pin down.

The flip-side sees Amber Leith reinterpret Plenty of Me into an energetic dance track. Distorted drums underlie synth notes that twinkle and tweet in harmony with pitched up vocal swells. Bold melodic hooks fuse together creating an altogether different feeling track- the sweet flute being a cherry on top.

Closing the EP is master of analog distortion: Poly800, coming through with a stripped back remix that is steeped in contemplation. Tickling effects and subtle soundscaping create a chaotic yet meditative space, inviting you to rest. Paired with only the crunchiest hi-hats from his Casio RZ-1, this remix boasts a laidback groove reminiscent of a half-speed jungle track.
